Greg Plazek Grew up in the Ottawa Valley where he participated in nearly every sport that was offered at school but found his passion in Basketball, Volleyball and Track & Field. After High School he completed a BA in Biochemistry from Queen’s University in Kingston. He then realized that he wanted to be in the Hospitality Industry, and worked in Lake Louise for one year and knew immediately it was the right decision.
He attended Ryerson University in Toronto for the degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management while working part-time. He graduated into the Management training program with Delta Hotels & Resorts in Toronto. A few years later he moved to Ottawa with Delta Hotels & Resorts. After 3.5 years, he moved to the Fairmont Chateau Laurier to manage Guest Services, followed by the Front Office and eventually he moved to Catering followed by Sales.
In 2010 he took on a Sales Account Executive role with the Westin Bayshore Hotel, Vancouver, as a remote seller for them, based in Ottawa. After 7 years, Starwood Hotels was purchased by Marriott International and his role changed. He moved to an above property role with Canada Account Sales where he does Account based sales for the Hotels with a specific focus on Sport accounts.
He is the current President for the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Chapter in Ottawa. He and his wife are the proud parents of four sons. He is an avid biker, swimmer and fan of all Ottawa teams including the Ottawa Senators.
